This coin commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of Adolphe Sax (1814–1894), whose name is eternally linked with the instrument he invented — the saxophone.

The coin depicts a young Sax and a panoramic view of his town of birth, Dinant.

This issue participates in the pan-European eurostar coin program for 2014.
