This superb rectangular 2oz silver coin is the first in a new series from the New Zealand Mint entitled “Gods of Ancient Greece”, and is dedicated to the Father of the Gods, Zeus!

Struck in glorious high relief this rectangular coin has been inspired by ancient sculpture, coins, vases and architecture, while also channelling classical and renaissance paintings of this iconic God of Ancient Greece. The design of Zeus, ‘the cloud gatherer’is shown seated in majesty, with his sceptre spreading thunderbolts across the sky. These elements, along with an eagle at his side, emphasize his divine status as the father of Gods and men. In the background, an Ancient Greek temple is set against a dramatic highly polished sky. The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Gods of Ancient Greece Zeus 2 oz 999 Fine Silver coin is perfectly displayed inside a coin case imitating a classic Greek temple of the Ionic order. Future coins in the ‘Gods of Ancient Greece’ series are designed to line up to represent an Ancient Greek temple. The coin title is Gold foiled on the attractive marblesque outer case and is housed within a full-colour thematic outer box, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
