Peru launches one sol coin depicting Tunanmarca complex

Peru's Central Reserve Bank (BCR) has launched on Tuesday the fifteenth coin in the numismatic series called "Wealth and Pride of Peru".

The new one sol coin depicts an image of the archeological complex of  Tunanmarca, located in Andean city of Jauja, in Peru's central Junin region.

Indeed, the site is a citadel which belong to the pre-Inca culture of Wankas and consists of a stone complex of buildings and an integrated water system.

So far this year, the BCR has issued four coins with designs bearing the Paracas Art Textile,  Kotosh Temple, Inca temple of Huatara and latest one is the Archaelogical Complex of Tunanmarca.

The coin, struck by the National Mint House, has a weight of 7,32 grams and a diameter of 25.5 mm, it has the Coat of Arms at the obverse and the Tunanmarca's complex at the reverse.

The central bank announced that ten million coins have been minted and put into circulation.
