Hedgehog in the Fog. Series: Russian (Soviet) Animation. Obverse a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and a semicircular inscription above it along the rim ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) framed with paired diamonds on both sides, under the coat of arms, in the centre, in three lines are an inscription ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), the coin denomination ‘25 РУБЛЕЙ’ (25 RUBLES) and the year of issue ‘2024 г.’ (2024), and on the right is the mint mark. Reverse a relief coloured image of the main character of the Hedgehog in the Fog animated film standing on a hill against the background of a landscape cast in relief and the fog, and the relief inscription ‘ЕЖИК В ТУМАНЕ’ (HEDGEHOG IN THE FOG) on the left around the upper circumference. It is based on Sergei Kozlov's fairy tale of the same name, which was substantially revised when the script was being written. The film tells a story of Hedgehog who goes astray in the fog on his way to Bear Cub’s place and finds himself in a mysterious world where he meets Eagle-owl, Bat, White Horse and other animals. The personality and image of the main character that tug at the viewers’ heartstrings made the cartoon successful. Hedgehog in the Fog is more than just an animated film – it is a philosophical parable with a deep meaning. Having captured the hearts of Soviet and international viewers, it has become an iconic piece of animated cinema.
