Obverse: Benjamin Franklin bust. Reverse: Liberty Bell, small eagle at right. Designer: John R. Sinnock. The 1956 proof Type 1 eagle has four wing tips to the left of the perch. This is the type that was used on proofs from 1950-1955. The 1956 proof Type 2 eagle has three wing tips to the left. of the perch. It is also of a higher relief. This type was used on 1957-1963.
