The Mint of Poland is proud to announce issuing a one-of-its-kind coin in the shape of a cube.

The coin has been designed to honour the memory of the Pope, whose numerous merits and miracles  which took place due to his intercession gave him a place among the Saints of the Catholic Church.

Thanks to its out-of-ordinary shape, stunning design embellished with high-end sophisticated ornaments referring to sacral art motifs the coin will be a wonderful complement to any collection. 

This 7-ounce coin minted in .999 fine silver makes it a safe investment and a precious gift for every follower of John Paul II.  The high collector and gift value of the coin is complemented by its elegant, exceptional folding presentation case in the form of a cube which stands out with its stylish design consistent with the coin theme. 

Obverse: In the central part of the coin – a profile effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by a decorative frame. Around – inscriptions: ELIZABETH II, NIUE ISLAND (the issuer), 2014 (the year of  issue) and the face value: 25 DOLLARS. In the lower corners of the coin – the hallmark: Ag 999 and the mint mark: m/w.

Reverse: On the upper side face of the coin – an image of John Paul II surrounded by a frame with an inscription in Latin: OMNIA NUDA ET APERTA SUNT ANTE OCULOS EIUS (Everything is disclosed and revealed before his eyes, Matthew 23:1-39). On the side faces  of the coin – figures of the Four Evangelists: St. Lucas, St. Mark, St. John and St. Matthew emblazoned with decorative ornaments.

In Christian tradition, the Four Evangelists are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the authors attributed with the creation of the four Gospel accounts in the New Testament.

The gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke are known as the Synoptic Gospels, because they include many of the same stories, often in the same sequence. Convention has traditionally held the authors to have been two of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus, John and Matthew, and two “apostolic men,” Mark and Luke:

Matthew – a former tax collector who was called by Jesus to be one of the Twelve Apostles,
Mark – a follower of Peter and so an “apostolic man”,
Luke – a doctor who wrote what is now the book of Luke to a friend Theophilus. Also believed to have written the book of Acts (or Acts of the Apostles) and a close friend of Paul of Tarsus,
John – a disciple of Jesus and possibly the youngest of his Twelve Apostles.

They are called evangelists, a word meaning ‘people who proclaim good news,’ because their books aim to tell the “good news” (“gospel”) of Jesus.
